The University of Nigeria Sports Council was formally inaugurated in 1983 by Professor F. N. Ndili who was the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria at that time. The Pioneer Chairman of the Sports Council was Mr. S. C. Nwoye and the secretary was the Alumni Relation Officer, Mr. C. O. Uzuegbunam. 
Mr. Kanayo Onyiliogwu, a Lecturer at the Department of Health and Physical Education of the University was appointed the first Acting Director of Sports from 1987 – 1994. ..

The Vice Chancellor

Professor Bartholomew Ndubuisi Okolo was appointed the 12th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria in June 2009. Before his appointment, he was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) - a position he assumed in January of the same year.


Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin)

The office of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) was created in 1975 with Professor Modilim Achufusi as the pioneer DVC.  The principal objective of the DVC (Admin.) is to assist the Vice-Chancellor in the discharge of his functions. The office was created because of the need to assist the Vice-Chancellor in the discharge of the weighty schedule of giving both administrative and academic leadership to the entire university community.

Deputy Vice Chancellor (Enugu Campus)

Professor Enemo was appointed the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Enugu Campus) in March 2011. She joined the services of  the University of Nigeria as an Assistant Lecturer in the Faculty of Law in 1985, after a period of legal practice at Erinne and Erinne Chambers, Onitsha, Nigeria. She was subsequently promoted to the ranks of Lecturer II (1986), Lecturer I (1990),  Senior Lecturer (1994) and Professor (2006).


Legal Unit

The Legal Unit of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office was established to cater for the increasing legal needs and or problems of the University. Thus because of the needs to advise the University Administration on the legal needs of the University and the increasing litigation arising from Staff , Students of the University and others individuals or bodies, the establishment of what is today known and or called “ Legal Unit” was nurtured. The University, from inception, had always retained a private Legal Practitioner to handle its day-to-day litigation in Court.

Records Unit

The office serves as the reservoir for the storage and retrieval of needed information on the student. The office works to render quick and efficient service to all who seek for one information or the other about the student, or by the student themselves.

Student’s Affairs

The University has an Office of the Students’ Affairs which manages the Halls of Residence, promotes the intellectual, social, psychological and religious welfare of students and co-ordinates a variety of student activities planned by a number of student organisations. It also takes care of students’ conduct and discipline.

Physical Planning

The Physical Planning Unit is charged with the responsibility of continuously planning, coordinating, monitoring, processing and evaluating the physical implementation of the University master plan.
