Academic/Public Building Section

These are essentially those buildings on campus that are used for academic purposes such as Lecture rooms/theatres, Academic Department Buildings, Library and Laboratories etc. Whilst the Public Buildings are those used for general purposes not essentially academic, to wit, Non academic departmental offices, Halls, Staff School Buildings, Cafeterias, Guest Houses and Utility Buildings.

Academic/Public Building Section

These are essentially those buildings on campus that are used for academic purposes such as Lecture rooms/theatres, Academic Department Buildings, Library and Laboratories etc. Whilst the Public Buildings are those used for general purposes not essentially academic, to wit, Non academic departmental offices, Halls, Staff School Buildings, Cafeterias, Guest Houses and Utility Buildings.
This Section was ostensibly set up to handle with dispatch maintenance problems that may arise in the buildings to enhance learning and job execution in the University.
For effective job delivery, this section is divided into units: Carpentry, Furniture, Masonry, Painting, Plumbing and Upholstery units.

  • Carpentry Unit: This is charged with all matters concerning woodwork in building assigned to it, ranging from foundation setting out, to roof work. It also handles roof leakages and scaffold works.
  • Furniture Unit: This attends to all the furnishing with wooden moveable objects in the offices such as tables, cupboards and chairs. They handle the procurement and maintenance of these items for offices, hostels and quarters.
  • Masonry Unit: They handle all works involving cement, sand, gravel/chippings, Tiling-ceramic and PVC and concrete trunks in buildings assigned to it, from the foundation to finishing including maintenance thereafter.
  • Painting Unit: This unit does painting works in all buildings and structures on campus. They are versed in the use of emulsion, gloss paints both for ordinary, and for design finishes.
  • Plumbing Unit: This unit carries out all the plumbing works in both the academic/public buildings
  • Upholstery Unit: They take care of that part of furniture that requires leather work. It also handles rugs and ragging in offices and quarters.
