In any organization where effectiveness is needed at maximum level, the need for an operational means of transportation is put into consideration to make all parts of the campus accessible to students and workers at all levels.
University of Nigeria Nsukka has a structure of internal transport system controlled by the Director of Works Services Department. The Transport Section provides drivers to the entire departments in the University for various purposes. Movement of staff and material for service delivery is the responsibility of this section The Section is also responsible for maintenance of records relating to all vehicles including earth-moving vehicles belonging to the University.
It comprises five units made up as follows:

Administration Unit: Vehicles in this unit serve the Principal Officers (That is the Vice Chancellor, the Registrar, and the Bursar) and members of the governing council of the University.

Tractors/Plant Unit: This unit is responsible for Agric plants e.g. Tractors and Mowers for lawn mowing; trailers for movement of goods and Cranes for various purposes.

Water Distribution: This has to do with water distribution by Tankers to staff of students within and outside the campus as the need arises.

Academic Unit: This unit provides drivers for official vehicles assigned to Faculties/Departments.
